I can’t believe we’re talking about Christmas in September – but trust me, the best festive events in North Norfolk book up fast. In our house, it’s tradition to grab our Great Yarmouth Hippodrome tickets asap. That way, we know we’ve got our seats for one of the most magical nights of the year, and there’s something lovely about knowing it’s in the diary while we’re still in flip-flops.

From 6th December to 4th January, this legendary circus-theatre transforms into a festive wonderland. Expect jaw-dropping acrobatics, big laughs, and the famous water finale in a building dripping with history. 🎭 Cromer Pier Christmas Show
If you love a bit of old-school variety with a modern twist, the Cromer Pier Christmas Show is a must. Running late November through December, it’s a mix of singing, dancing, comedy and a sprinkling of seaside charm. Great for families or a festive night out with friends.

This one’s a newer tradition for us. From late November to 23rd December, Pensthorpe transforms into a Christmassy adventure with interactive fun for the kids. Perfect for younger families looking for that magical Santa moment without the chaos of bigger attractions.

🕯 Holkham Hall by Candlelight
A slower, more elegant way to soak up the season. Step into Holkham’s grand state rooms lit entirely by candlelight, with the smell of pine and Christmas music in the air. They also run festive workshops, from wreath-making to silversmithing – perfect for a December treat.

🎅 Santa at Holkham Hall – “An Audience with Father Christmas”
From 21st–23rd December, children are invited into the beautifully candlelit state rooms of Holkham Hall for an enchanting meeting with Father and Mother Christmas. A troupe of jolly Jingle Elves leads families through the stunning festive installations—each room narrating a new story in glittering themes—before arriving at the grand Saloon to meet the big man himself. Children (aged 0–12) receive a small gift, while adults enjoy a mince pie and glass of Prosecco or soft drink. It’s an intimate, magical experience perfect for younger children and nostalgic grown‑ups alike 💫

🚂 Christmas Train Ride for Children – The Polar Express™ on Mid-Norfolk Railway
For kids who still believe in magic, the Polar Express™ Train Ride at Mid‑Norfolk Railway is a festive dream come true. Running through November and December, families board a beautifully decorated steam train near Dereham (lovingly renamed Grand Rapids), sip hot chocolate, munch cookies, sing carols, and hear the iconic “All aboard!” from the Conductor.
